My teaching philosophy

My focus in any teaching environment is to support student inquiry.  I have studied the Understanding by Design curriculum framework as well as Design Thinking to support student exploration and acquisition of new understandings.  Creating a collaborative learning environment utilizes 21st century learning skills and leads to greater divergent thinking and creative problem solving.  I work to create this experience in a visual arts classroom or a fiber art workshop.
